Home Repair

The Housing Development Alliance works with current homeowners to obtain needed repairs.  Nearly 50% of the housing units in Perry County are valued at $50,000 or less, and 25% of the homes were built prior to 1960.  Together, these facts indicate that many homes are significantly sub-standard.  Our rehabs vary from building a new porch to replacing siding and windows to re-pitching a roof (or completing all three).

Our housing counseling staff works hard to ensure these repairs are affordable to our clients. Many are elderly and are on a fixed income from Social Security. We work with several funding sources:
~ USDA-Rural Development
~ Affordable Housing Trust Fund
~ HPCHDA Revolving Loan Fund
~ volunteer fees
to create long-term, low-interest loans to families who could not otherwise afford to have their home repaired. 

Our volunteer program is crucial to our rehab work. By contributing their hard work and volunteer fees, Housing Development Alliance volunteers, both local and out-of-town, make our work considerably cheaper to the family, and we are able to accomplish more work than by simply acting as a contractor.
