from our community would like to The Appalachian Artisan Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to arts and heritage based economic development and education. Located in downtown Hindman by the renowned Kentucky School of Craft, featuring programs in Blacksmithing (to come), Jewelry Making, and Furniture Making, the Appalachian Artisan Center features works of native Appalachians in various medias. Most art at the center is for sale. Visit their website for more information, www.artisancenter.net. Museum Tour The Bobby Davis Museum demonstrates local history of Hazard and Perry County. This workshop lasts about one hour, and can accommodate up to 50 participants in your group. Free of charge. Visit to Appalshop Participants will receive a guided tour of Appalshop, a multi-disciplinary arts and education center in the heart of Appalachia producing original films, video, theater, music and spoken-word recordings, radio, photography, multimedia, and books. Participants will tour the facility, view a documentary in Appalshop theatre, and possibly meet with filmmakers as they are available. This workshop lasts approximately 3-4 hours, and requires participants to have transportation from Hazard to Whitesburg (approximately 32 miles).
