United We Build
We held this event in November 2010 and hope to make it an annual event. This event targets Perry County Teens to give them a positive experience that crosses school rivalry lines. "United We Build - Teen House Raising" was held Saturday, November 6 and Saturday, November 13, 2010, during which the Housing Development Alliance brought together approximately 21 local teen volunteers from Hazard High School and Perry County Central High School to dry in a house in 2 days. The completed house was sold to a qualifying low-income family. The United We Build House Raising Project not only provided a safe, decent and affordable home to a family in need, but also empowered the young people involved and helped to create a spirit of community among the youth in our area. It was an awesome two days. The kids were amazing!! |
